How We Met

Giancarlo and I have known each other since he moved to Fort Mill, South Carolina in 2010. We were friends all throughout middle school and high school. We started dating shortly before starting our senior year. After graduating high school, though we went to different universities, we traveled to see each other every other weekend and talked on the phone daily. All thanks to God; We just celebrated 8 years of dating this past August!

The Proposal

This past March, Giancarlo and I planned a trip with our parents, my sister, and Giancarlo’s best friends to Barcelona. Giancarlo told me we were planning this trip since Lesly and Miguel, his parents, really wanted to go after seeing how fun our Spain trip at the end of 2023 was (Little did I know this was all a ploy). I was so excited about the trip and I love planning these types of excursions so I found an Airbnb in the heart of downtown Barcelona, and booked all of our excursions. When we arrived, Giancarlo told us that his cousin was planning something for us on the first full day we were in Barcelona, so we all hopped into taxis, wearing our best, and went to the top of Barcelona, to a place called Tibidabo, where the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is. Giancarlo told me that he had to go meet his cousin for some tickets and hold our place in line, so we all followed shortly after. My family, his parents, his best friends and I walked up the steps to meet Giancarlo at the top of the temple. As we got to the top I noticed a lot of people standing around taking photos, and thought to myself “wow, is something happening?!”, I turned the corner and saw Giancarlo standing there with flowers in front of a sign that said “Will you marry me”, and instantly started bawling. Of course, my answer was yes! It was the most perfect proposal with all of our loved ones, with my the best view of the entire city of Barcelona. A truly unforgettable moment.
